Majed Ibrahim

PhD student

Peter's research interests are focused on colloidal semiconductor quantum dots and metal halide perovskites, in particular their synthesis, surface functionalization, integration into optoelectronic devices, use in energy conversion and bio-detection.
He is currently Deputy Head of the SyMMES research unit of CEA-IRIG.

Majed began his PhD in December 2024, under the supervision of Peter Reiss. He obtained his BSc in chemistry from the Lebanese University, followed by an MSc in Nano chemistry from Université Grenoble Alpes. His current research is centered on developing III-V Quantum Dot materials for photodetectors in the SWIR region.

Oleksandra is working on a collaborative project between CEA and ST Microelectronics. She obtained her PhD in Organic and Material Chemistry from the University of Namur (Belgium) in 2022. Prior to this, she obtained her double MSc in Organic and Green Chemistry from Kharkiv National University (Ukraine) and Nice Sophia Antipolis University (France) in 2017. Currently, her research is focused on the NIR-active III-V quantum dots.

Oleksandra Yeromina

Post-doc

Céline joined the team in 2020 and works on batch and flow syntheses of different types of QDs. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in chemistry in Orleans, after which she worked for 13 years in a pharmaceutical laboratory. She then worked for 18 months at the CEA in Grenoble on the synthesis of copper chelators for Wilson's disease. Afterwards, she worked for 6 years in the glass syringes industry, specializing in inorganic analysis techniques.

Céline Rivaux

Dmitry's research topics are colloidal quantum dots, halide perovskites, surface functionalization, confined semiconductors, perovskite solar cells,
photodetectors, photo(electro)catalytic water splitting and CO2 reduction, XPS/UPS surface characterisation.

Dmitry Aldakov

CNRS researcher

Ranin started her PhD in 2023 focusing on lead-free perovskites for photovoltaic applications. She obtained M2 in Nanosciences and Nanotechnology from the University of Grenoble (UGA). Prior to that, she completed a M1 in Physical Chemistry and BSc in Chemistry at Lebanese University (LU) in Lebanon. Her research journey is dedicated to advancing sustainable energy solutions through innovative applications of nanomaterials in photovoltaics.

Anna Stepanova

PhD student

Anna started her PhD in February 2024. She obtained her BSc and MSc in Chemical Technology and Engineering at “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, Kyiv, Ukraine. She then worked on synthesis and characterization of TiO2 and its application for photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B at National Institute of Materials Physics, Bucharest-Magurele, Romania. Now she is working on the synthesis of III-V core/shell QDs and their use in QLEDs, photocatalysis and photodetection.

Lorenzo started his PhD in April 2023 under the supervision of Dmitry Aldakov. He works on the PROSPER-H2 project. He obtained his BSc in Chemistry at Università degli Studi di Genova, and continued with an international MSc in Materials Science and Engineering with short-time stays at Université Paris-Saclay, University of Porto and Stockholm University. Now he is working on the synthesis of non-toxic ternary and quaternary QDs for photoelectrochemical H2 production.

Siddhant joined the SyMMES lab as a post-doctoral researcher in October 2024. He completed his PhD from Sikkim University, India, where he focused on the synthesis and mechanistic studies of colloidal III-V quantum dots. Additionally, he has experience in the synthesis and application of various II-VI, NIR and perovskite nanocrystals. His current research focuses on properties and synthesis of I-III-VI based QDs.

Siddhant Basel

Post-doc

Rodolphe is currently performing a 4-months internship in our team. Originally from Brittany, he pursued his studies at the ENS in Lyon, where he completed his Bachelor's degree and is currently enrolled in a Master's degree. Previously, he completed an internship at the Kovalenko Lab at ETH Zurich, focusing on lead halide perovskites. His current research is about colloidal III-V quantum dots, with an emphasis on controlling their shape and improving their stability.

Rodolphe Curti

M2 intern

Joachim is undertaking a six-month internship with the STEP team, supervised by Peter Reiss. He studied at Sorbonne University, where he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and is currently finishing his Master’s degree in Materials Chemistry. His previous internship was with the start-up Pioniq-technologies, where he worked on the synthesis of a solid-state battery electrolyte. His current work focuses on the colloidal synthesis of III-V quantum dots for photodetectors in the SWIR region.
